Home Minister Amit Shah Chaired High Level Meeting On Flood Management Amid Monsoon Rain


Amit Shah Meeting on Monsoon: Union Home Minister Amit Shah On Sunday (23 June), the Chief Minister called a high-level meeting to review the flood management preparations in Delhi. Many senior officials including Union Water Power Minister CR Patil attended this meeting. With the arrival of monsoon, heavy rains create flood-like conditions in many states of the country. In some states, floods also occur due to rising water level of rivers. In such a situation, plans are being made to deal with floods from now itself.

Apart from Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Secretaries of Home Ministries and Departments, officials of Water Resources, River Development and River Conservation also attended the meeting. Apart from this, officials of Department of Earth Sciences; Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Road Transport and Highways, Chairman of Railway Board, Member of NDMA, Director General of NDRF and IMD and officials of related ministries and departments participated in the meeting.

These states of the country are suffering from floods

In fact, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and some other northeastern states also face landslides and other rain-related problems during the monsoon. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir have also witnessed floods in recent years. According to news agency PTI, officials said that Assam is currently battling floods and about 3.90 lakh people are affected in 19 districts.

The flood situation in Assam has improved marginally as the number of affected people and districts has come down, an official bulletin said on Saturday. However, two more deaths have been reported due to floods. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin said that two deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in floods, landslides and storms this year to 39.
